Can you see me?
So, you bought the latest software, GPS, radar, radar reflectors and other
goodies to go where no one has gone before....
But sometimes you are not the problem. Visit the following website to view
the raising of the Tricolor vessel that went down.
The ‘TRICOLOR’ was a 1987 built Norwegian flagged vehicle carrier, which,
in the early hours of 14 December 2002, was struck by ‘Kariba’, a 1982
built Bahamian flagged container ship in the French Exclusive Economic
Zone some 20 miles north of the French coast in the English channel.
TRICOLOR sank as a result of the impact of the striking and was eventually
declared a total loss. In December 2002 French authorities ordered the
TRICOLOR to be removed, as it was perceived to represent a danger to
shipping and the environment.
This site is a source of information about the development, background and
progress of the remarkable wreck removal of the TRICOLOR, one of the
biggest wrecks ever to be removed.

Remember: When sailing your pleasure boat in any waters, keep in mind that
these 2 large vessels, using state-of-the-art navigation equipment,
somehow did not see each other in time to avoid a collision. Lesson
learned from this - don't assume anybody can see you or knows where you
are! (Assuming they are on the bridge doing their job!)
Even if you are in the right and have the right-of-way, a damaged boat (or
something even worse) is not worth you standing firm to prove your point!
