Rock surface in Glacier Bay National Park
About this image: A rock of a different feather
This rock was no more than 10 ft / 3 m from the previous picture, but this rock was completely different. The color, texture, and even the fracturing looked like it could have been from the other side of Alaska. There appeared to be a small amount of crystallized material between a few cracks, but for the rest, this rock appeared to be held together by sheer willpower.
Mad Dog Voyager in North Sandy Cove
About this image: Mad Dog in North Sandy Cove
As low tide was in full swing, the water level where we were standing to take this photo had already dropped over 12 ft / 3.7 m. Due to such large tidal differences, the coastline of the entire Glacier Bay completely changes from low to high tide.
Sunbeams from above
About this image: The sun finds a crack in the clouds
Even a completely overcast day once in a while lets through the sun. As evening was approaching, the sun found this little strip of clear to allow it's sunbeams to pour down to the ground below.

The sky in turmoil in Glacier Bay National Park
About this image: The sky in turmoil
While we were moving to a new location, the sky was in a state of turmoil. As if in a struggle between the dark and the light, we witnessed a several hour long struggle to establish dominance of the skies this day. In the end, the rainclouds rolled clockwise beside and around us and the clear blue skies slowly gave way to a high fluffy cloud cover.
Breakfast on Mad Dog Voyager
About this image: Coffee, scones and a little light reading
With a fresh batch of Mad Dog Scones (which we affectionately call Stegalasaurus Scones) and a steaming hot espresso, all fresh from the Galley, we were ready for breakfast, when Spike grabbed the jam pot to make sure it's the good stuff. A “Suske en Wiske” book (from Holland) helped to pass the time while waiting for the scones to bake.
